Bournewood
Hospital
project description
GMI Architects was hired by Bournewood Hospital to provide ongoing architectural and interior design services for a 110 Bed hospital. Bournewood provides inpatient and outpatient psychiatric services to adult clients. The entire hospital is sited on the grounds of a turn of the century farm. The original farmhouse and barn are still in use by the hospital as a maintenance office and administration offices.
GMI has provided planning and design services for numerous projects over the past years included the renovation of an in-patient nurses station, the addition of an administration/admission department, a 15 bed inpatient renovation, and the addition of a multi-purpose group therapy room. The most recent project was the planning, programming, and design of a new inpatient building in a campus like setting. The Nasir A. Khan Building, named to honor the memory of the Hospital’s dynamic leader, is a free standing, 30 bed inpatient facility on the beautiful campus. It was designed with wood shingles and a residential character to fit into the campus.
