GMI Architects lead the design and construction effort of the newly relocated Specs Eyecare in Newport County. Specs Eyecare was previously housed in a lower-level, leased office suite with minimal natural light while their new location has ample windows, an inviting entrance and a connection to the exterior. Once a former child care facility, the newly purchased free-standing building needed enhancements to the exterior, a new entrance vestibule, and a full interior renovation to create the public waiting and retail area along with exam rooms, testing and procedure rooms and staff spaces. There was a desire to create a coastal feel to the interiors due to the proximity to Newport, which was achieved with a sophisticated, contemporary twist. Our in-house interior design selections included calming blues, whites and driftwoods, with accents of plum throughout. GMI Architects was also integral in the selection of furniture and coordination with the furniture distributor to create a fully cohesive project.
